Every Woman Sierra Leone commemorates International Day of the Girl Child

This year, Every Woman Sierra Leone took the message of protection and empowerment beyond the girl child herself; we took it to her parents, to her community, and to those who live with disabilities.

In partnership with community leaders, we visited the camp for persons with disabilities on the outskirts of Makeni in Bombali District. Our conversations focused on the importance of protecting the girl child, not settling rape cases under the table, standing against gender-based violence, and recognising the heightened vulnerabilities of girls with disabilities.

By engaging mothers and fathers directly, we are building a stronger circle of protection around every girl — one that ensures accountability, safety, and dignity.

Every Woman Sierra Leone remains committed to ensuring that no girl is left behind.
